Kumomoto Oysters

These Oysters are totally wild and handpicked from Maldon Oysters traditional oyster beds.  They have a thicker than a normal shell, with a slightly different shape but have an exquisite taste and meatiness.

Originating in the Kumomoto area of Japan, this Pacific species once grown in the Ariake Bay is now thrives in the River Blackwater to produce a sweet and fruity flavour. The Kumomoto oyster is highly regarded as a delicacy by many top restaurants and can be served in a variety of ways.

The Kumomoto oyster takes roughly 3 years to reach a saleable size and is smaller typically than other oyster species (This makes it great for a beginner to start out with, and for those seasoned Oyster lovers this variety is sure to impress!) ranging from 3 to 8 cm in length; it has a medium cup and is jagged in appearance.

**PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PRODUCT HAS TO BE SHIPPED SEPARATELY INCURRING AN £8.00 SHIPPING CHARGE FOR UP TO 8 DOZEN OYSTERS WITHIN THE UK MAINLAND

    Give them a try

Posted by Rhona McGrouther on 13th Oct 2014

I'd never tried Kumamoto osyers before but Peter at Ardtaraig recomended them to me and I have to say they were stunning. Much smaller than rock oysters they would be great for anyone who wants to try oysters but is unsure of where to start. Will be buying them again soon...
