Tasting Notes:

Michel Girard Sancerre 37.5cl 2021 Sancerre, France

The wine shows pure Sauvignon style - fragrant aromas of grapefruit and citrus with a waft of mineral pungency, full and round in the mouth with further fruity grapefruit and orange flavours but also almond nuttiness, supported by elegant zingy lees and acidity. Fantastique!!
The grapes were hand-picked and gently pressed, fermented at 18°C by indigenous yeasts in stainless steel vats - all to preserve natural aromas, elegance and complexity.
The final blend of wines from vineyards with different soils brings together their individual elements and flavours to create a balanced, complete wine.
The wine comes from Verdigny, the heart of goats cheese country, so it's ideal to wash down a soft tangy 'crottin'.
Also great with delicate white fish or grilled peppers. Domaine Michel Girard comprises of 12 hectares of vineyards, made up of 30 parcels of vines with an average age of 15 years.
Terroir plays an important role at this estate. Michel, Philippe and Benoît Girard's vines are planted on each of Sancerre's three
different soil types: Terres Blanches (clay and limestone), Caillottes (chalky limestone) and Silex (flint).
The brothers favour judicious blending of the separately-vinified cuvées to create wines with real complexity and balance.

Bollinger Special Cuvee NV 37.5cl Champagne, France

Big, Pinot Noir dominant, complex and quite masculine.
This is very much Bollinger's house style. Madame Lily Bollinger, who died in 1971, was the wine's greatest international ambassador.
Once, when asked how she enjoyed her Champagne, she replied, "I drink it when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone.
When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I'm not hungry and drink it when I am.
Otherwise, I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty."
Founded in 1829 by Jacques Bollinger, Paul-Joseph Renaudin and Admiral de Vilermont, the company came into it's own in the 20th century with Lily Bollinger at the helm.
Bollinger's signature style was delveloped during Lily's tenure and it's rich, oak-aged, Pinot dominant style has many dedicated fans.

Bodega Classica Hacienda Lopez de Haro Crianza 37.5cl 2018 Rioja, Spain

Hacienda Lopez de Haro is a wine of intense colour and pleasant bouquet, in which the nuances of mature fruit stand out.
In the mouth it is soft, expressive and elegant, combining a fruity character with the notes lent by the cask, in perfect balance. bags of complex dark fruits mixed with coffee, balsamic and smooth oak notes.
After picking, the grapes spend 2 weeks on skins for depth of colour, the wine is then fermented at contorlled temperature of 28 degrees.
The three grape varietals are then blended and age in a mix of French and American oak for 18 months before spending a further 6 months in bottle prior to release.
These classic Rioja wines come from the young and dynamic team at Vintae. The wines are a great mix of classic style with modern accessibility.
They are one of best value and best selling wines and not to be missed. The Tempranillo and the Crianza are easy going, not overly oaky and provide immediate pleasure.
The Reserva and Gran Reserva are more serious and pair brilliantly with food.
